West Stand Roof Lifts Complete

The final cantilevered truss is now in place as the west stand roof nears completion.

The sixth section of steelwork has been installed, with the latticework connecting the structure to the north and south stands.

And with the barrel sections taking shape in the east stand, the six cantilevered sections will soon be lifted in sequence to mirror the procedure in the stand opposite and give the roof its unique shape.

Meanwhile, the standing seam roof system continues to clad the north stand, on top of the steel frame.

Narrow sheets, rolled off a coil in three long sections are connected together, and will eventually be skinned with the perforated steel and aluminium roof.

Internally, the north stand lower terrace is gathering pace, with raker beams now spreading across the extent of the stand, terracing units being dropped into place and the concrete slab, which ties everything together, set to be poured.

Glazing also now extends across the upper level of the west stand, offering jaw-dropping views over the River Mersey and providing welcome weatherproofing for the ongoing internal fit-out.
