Gethin Jones joined Everton’s Academy at the age of 12.

Originally a central midfielder, he has since been converted to a right-back to utilise his pace.

He lifted the Under-18s Premier League title alongside fellow co-captain Russell Griffiths in May 2014 before putting pen-to-paper on a one-year professional contract later that summer.

Jones capped a fine year by making his senior Everton debut against FC Krasnodar in the December, replacing fellow Academy graduate Tyias Browning in the final minute.

Despite being born in Australia, Jones has represented and captained Wales at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21 levels.

In June 2017, he received his maiden senior call-up for Wales.

Jones enjoyed a three-month loan stint with Plymouth Argyle in 2015, making eight appearances as the Pilgrims' season eventually ended following a semi-final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in the League Two play-offs.

In 2016/17, he captained the Under-23s to a pre-season treble of trophies (SuperCupNI and Liverpool and Lancashire Senior Cups) before helping to set David Unsworth's side on their way to becoming inaugural Premier League 2 champions.

He then spent the second half of the campaign with Championship side Barnsley, where he made 17 appearances.

After featuring for the Under-23s during the first half of the 2017/18 campaign, Jones joined League One side Fleetwood Town on 5 January 2018, penning a two-and-a-half-year deal.
