Callum Connolly inked his first professional Everton contract in July 2015 - and followed it up with a Premier League debut nine months later.

The Litherland-born youngster was called upon from the bench when Everton locked horns with Southampton in April 2016.

He played the final half-hour at right-back when Seamus Coleman limped off injured.

Versatility is one of Connolly’s main attributes. He can play anywhere across the backline and in central midfield.

Connolly's first taste of senior experience came in a month-long stint at Barnsley in March 2016.

In 2016/17, he helped David Unsworth's Under-23s side land the Premier League 2 title, while also spending five months on loan at Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

He scored his first professional goals during his temporary spell away from Goodison, netting a brace on his Latics debut in a 2-0 away win over Burton Albion.

After helping England win the Under-20 World Cup in the summer of 2017, he joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan for the 2017/18 campaign.

Connolly gained valuable first-team experience with the Tractor Boys, making 35 first-team appearances and chipping in with four goals.

He returned to the Championship in August 2018 with another loan move to Wigan, having penned a new three-year contract with Everton.

Connolly played 17 matches for Wigan - scoring once - before joining fellow Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers in another loan move in January. Connolly made 16 league appearances for the Trotters, chipping in with two goals and providing two assists.

He then joined League One side Lincoln City on loan for the first half of the 2019/20 campaign, before moving to Fleetwood Town in January 2020 for the remainder of the season.

He emerged as a key player for Fleetwood as they qualified for the League One play-offs but Town were beaten by Wycombe Wanderers in the semi-finals.

Connolly returned to Fleetwood on loan in October 2020 and made a further 42 starts for the club from the Fylde Coast, captaining the side on multiple occasions.

Contracted until: June 2021
