Friday’s Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph suggest Everton are interested in signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgian international is also said to be attracting the attention of Crystal Palace, Fulham and Marseille.

Club captain Phil Jagielka features in the Liverpool Echo, with the defender explaining why Michael Keane can be an important figure for the Blues for years to come.

“With his personality and the lad he is, as long as he keeps progressing as he is, I don’t see why he can’t [be a key man for Everton],” he said.

“Football has changed a lot since I came to Everton but it would be fantastic if Mike grows into the role and gets a bit more vocal on the pitch, which is something that comes with confidence and age.”

The local read also reports on Everton Under-18s’ dramatic penalty shootout victory over Stoke City in Thursday night’s FA Youth Cup fourth round tie.

The game was settled by spot-kicks having finished 2-2 after extra time – Ellis Simms and Mackenzie Hunt were on the scoresheet for the young Blues.

Goalkeeper Harry Tyrer was the hero for Paul Tait’s team, saving three penalties to ensure the Toffees’ progress.
