What The Papers Say - October 17

Everton are said to be preparing a contract offer for Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey according to Wednesday’s newspapers.

Both the Daily Express and Daily Star suggest the Blues will look to snap up Ramsey once his deal at Arsenal expires next summer.

Elsewhere, England great Peter Shilton explains how Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford can improve further still in the Daily Mail, who also analyse why the former Sunderland custodian is part of a “new breed” of keepers.

The Liverpool Echo, too, has quotes from Everton boss Marco Silva on why he believes Pickford can keep developing.

The local read looks at Michael Keane’s season so far and suggests fellow defender Yerry Mina should look to the example of Colombia teammate Davinson Sanchez - the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back - as best practice when it comes to making the adjustments needed to play in the Premier League.

The Daily Telegraph and Daily Mirror both include reports from England Under-21s’ 2-0 European Championships qualifying win over Scotland, in which Kieran Dowell struck a stunning second on Tuesday night.
