Idrissa Gana Gueye got on the scoresheet as Senegal eased past Sudan 3-0 in their Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier in Dakar.
Everton midfielder Gana netted Senegal’s second goal of the night, with his side’s convincing victory putting them top of qualification Group A.
Olympiakos defender Pape Abou Cisse poked home from close range finish to put the Senegalese ahead on 17 minutes.
Buoyed by the opener, the home team doubled their lead just a minute later – the onrushing Gana arriving late in the box to slot home after a fine team move.
The goal was the 29-year-old’s second for his country on what was his 61st international appearance. The Toffees midfielder was then substituted in the 44th minute, with Sidy Sarr coming on to replace him.
Senegal continued to press after the break and Rennes forward M’Baye Niang‘s deflected strike made the points safe five minutes after half-time.
Aliou Cisse's men now lead Madagascar on goal difference in Group A, with a return meeting with Sudan in Khartoum next up on Tuesday.
